Sleepy head

Elsha has posted 2 times recently about Will falling asleep in random places and I've been so jealous. Not anymore!
We have church from 12-3, which is really inconvenient for Amelia's nap, which is at 2. Sometimes I bring her home early from church to nap, sometimes we let her nap from about 3-4:30ish, and sometimes we just put her to bed early that night. When we got home today I asked her if she wanted to nap or just go to bed early and she said early bedtime, which was totally fine with me. So we made a delicious dinner of hot dogs, french fries and pork-n-beans. I'll have you all know that Amelia ate almost an entire hot dog! I seriously considered writing a separate blog just about dinner because ALMOST AN ENTIRE HOT DOG you guys! Plus some beans and a couple fries. Amazing. I digress. After dinner she asked to watch Nemo, like usual, and since we wanted to see what people were wearing to the Oscars, we set her up on the other TV and left her alone. A few minutes later Jonathan went over there to find this:

YES!!! I was so excited that she fell asleep, although I'm not really sure why because now she'll probably never want to go to bed. (It's 5:40 right now and she's still asleep.) Shoot. Wish us luck. :)

I can!

Amelia is in this SUPER annoying phase of saying, "IIIIII can do it!" Literally to everything! Just think of anything you do for your kids, or really anything you do for yourself, and she wants to do it: Fill up her juice cup, first with water and then with the splash of juice we put in, put on all her clothes, especially her socks, which she can't do by herself, stir ANYTHING, especially dishing out and stirring her hot cocoa every night, put on her OWN diaper, which she has yet to accomplish but still wants to do it EVERY time, and many many other things. I am trying SO hard to let her do everything on her own that she wants to but it is really a test of my patience. Especially with the stuff that I know she can't do, like put on her own diaper. Anyway~ the other day I was unloading the dishwasher and of course came the "I can do it!" so I let her. Here's how it turned out:

So proud

Even so, I told her, "You did SUCH a good job! Thank you so much for your help." So that maybe my moments of frustration later in the day would balance out. :) That's how it works, right? :)

I like baby butts and I cannot lie

A couple weeks ago Addilyn started rolling over, and now she does it all the time! You can't lay her down to change her diaper without her flipping right over. The other day I decided to take a picture because who can resist baby butts?! Not me!

Haha. So cute.

Also, we took her in for her 4 month appointment this morning. She weighs in at a whopping 12lbs 2oz and is 23 1/2 inches long. For comparison sake, that's 2 pounds smaller and 1/2 an inch shorter than Amelia was at 4 months! Holy crap, I definitely did not think it got smaller than Amelia. Tiny tiny ladies.

Johnny Jump

From the time that Amelia was about 3 weeks old she was so strong with her neck and her legs. You could lay her on your chest and she would pick her little head up and look you straight in the eye. Addilyn, not so much. She's our lazy girl. Anyway, we were looking back through our pictures and found out that we started putting Amelia in the Johnny Jump around 3 months, and she loved it! See:

The other day we thought we'd give Addilyn her first try in there while we ate dinner. I don't think she gets it so much:

We had ourselves a good laugh. We'll keep trying :)

Big girl bed

I had always said that I wanted to keep Amelia in her crib until she was 10. :) But seriously, I know a lot of people who are so excited to get their kids out of their crib so they can be a big boy/girl. I am not one of those people. That being said, it seemed like recently it would make sense to convert Amelia's bed into a toddler bed. I don't really know why. She's always been a terrible sleeper, and there have been a couple nights recently that Jonathan has been in there so many times he says, "I wish I could just lay in her bed with her." Now he can. :) It's been converted now for 2 days and she's taken her naps just fine. Nights haven't been any easier or harder than normal. Both mornings she has woken up an hour earlier than normal, but the first day I brought her down to my bed and she went back to sleep! We'll see if things keep going well, and if not, we'll make it back into a crib! :)

Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day! We "celebrated" last night, because in typical Tuesday style, Jonathan had to work today from 11am-9pm. We're going to drag it out a little bit, because who doesn't love to drag out holidays? Last night we exchanged [unexpected] gifts, today we won't do anything, but since tomorrow is his day off we'll go out to a nice dinner and then go get ice cream with the Valentine Dairy Queen gift card we got from my parents. Yay! Here are our gifts from tonight:

Cupcakes I made for him (Thanks pinterest!)

Beautiful necklace he bought me. Yes, Kirsta, I got choked up when I read the bottom

Addilyn's new stuffed dog

Jonathan also bought Amelia a coloring book with colored pencils and a sticker pad with Valentine stickers, but I didn't get a picture of them coloring together.

I hope you all have a great day, even if you think Valentine's is a totally bogus holiday.

Also, Happy birthday to my amazing brother, Karl! We love you and can't wait to see you in March!

What a sucker

Addilyn is 2 days shy of being 4 months old, which is amazing, and she sucks her thumb! For now, I think it's the cutest thing in the world. She doesn't necessarily do it for self soothing yet, just whenever she's chillin' it seems to pop into her mouth. I'm not going to try to intervene, because I think it'll be great for her to have a soother, although I might be really frustrated in a couple years when we're trying to break her of the habit. After the "sippy cup incident" with Amelia (she still won't drink milk) I'm trying to just let things be as they are, even if they annoy me, or I want them to be different. Also, I'm not worried about Addilyn messing up her teeth because I know people that sucked their thumb and have great teeth, and I know people who didn't suck their thumb and have bad teeth. Either way, if her teeth get messed up, we'll fix them. :) Anyway~ here's a picture of the thumb sucking in action:

Cute, cute, cute.

Survey says...

I love surveys! So I stole this from Elsha :)

A to Z

A. Age: 26

B. Bed size: A Queen. Don't really ever want to go bigger and definitely don't want to go smaller.

C. Chore that you hate: Mopping the kitchen. It's one of those things that's ALWAYS on the list but NEVER gets done. It's so easy and fast when I do do it, but I just hate it! Also, making the bed, which I don't really consider a chore because I don't do it. Ever.

D. Dogs: Nope. Never. Sorry kids.

E. Essential start to your day: When I'm pregnant it's a bowl of cereal (which is about the only time I eat cold cereal). When it's winter it's a cup of cocoa or apple cider.

F. Favorite color: Pink

G. Gold or silver: Silver

H. Height: 5'6"

I. Instruments that you play: None. I have played the piano and the cello in my life, and I wish I played something now. I hope more than anything that my kids are musical.

J. Job title: Homemaker- hardest job in the world.

K. Kids: Amelia- 2 1/2, Addilyn- almost 4 months.

L. Live: Pueblo, Colorado

M. Mother's name: Linda

N. Nicknames: Jonathan calls me Bum Bum sometimes, and I'm only telling you that because the secret was already leaked on my candy letter post. My dad and a few others call me Kare Bear.

O. Overnight hospital stays: 2008 my gallbladder attacked me and I got it taken out. What a relief. 2009 Amelia was born- stayed 2 nights. 2011 Addilyn was born- stayed 2 nights.

P. Pet peeves: People that take their sick kids out into the world to infect everyone else. (Barfing sick)

Q. Quote from a movie: "That is not a delicious beverage, it's a knife!" -Dane Cook

R: Right or left handed: Right

S: Siblings: Two older brothers, two older sisters

T: Time of day: I love the morning, starting around 8 or 9. I love to get a lot done in the morning and then relax the rest of the day. And I especially love getting up really early to leave for road trips.

U. Underwear: Umm, yes I wear it.

V. Vegetable(s) you hate: I don't HATE anything. I prefer not to eat mushrooms too often, and I've never had beets or brussel sprouts.

W. What makes you run late: I try REALLY hard not to be late. I would say 99.9% of the time I'm on time (5 minutes early).

X. X-rays you've had: I'm pretty sure I've only had dental.

Y. Yummy food that you make: I try to make yummy food every day! I cook almost 7 days a week, every week, and my goal is to make it yummy :)

Z. Zoo animal: I don't love the zoo. I'm of the opinion that if you've seen one you've seen them all. That being said, we'll probably get a pass to the Pueblo Zoo this summer because I don't want to deprive Amelia.
