Sketch

The other day Jonathan decided to do something he hasn't done since before we got married: Draw. I thought I'd show you his work, since I think it's beautiful. Espeically since it completely boggles my mind when people can see a person (or picture of a person) and draw them and make it actually look like them!

First, here is the real picture:

Now here is his drawing:

He turned up her lip on purpose to make it look like she was smiling at me. Pretty good, huh?

Older and Wiser

Addilyn is getting older and Amelia is getting wiser. We took Addilyn to her 6 month doctor visit on Wednesday and here are her stats: 13 lbs 9 oz. 24 1/2 inches. 40 cm head circumference. To compare to Amelia, who we thought was the smallest child ever: 16 lbs 3 oz. 25 inches. 41 3/4 cm head circumference. Addilyn is SO tiny! Which is odd because she eats like a champ! But she's getting cuter by the day :)
Here's a recent story about Amelia: She and I were driving to Taco Bell for our regular Wednesday lunch. She told me that Dad was going to take her to the zoo, which I thought was odd because I had just taken her the day before. While we were eating I said to Jonathan, "Did you tell her you would take her to the Z-O-O?" He said, "No, but I was thinking maybe later I could take her on the B-I-K-E." To which Amelia immediately responded, "I wanna go on a bike ride to the zoo!" Jonathan and I just burst out laughing and I said, "Amelia, what does B-I-K-E spell?" and she said, "bike!" Holy crap, how does she already know that?? We're going to have to start spelling out entire sentences!! She's just as cute as ever these days too:

Milk

YOU GUUUUUUUUUYS! Amelia finally drank milk! (I'll just go ahead and start with the punchline.)

For a quick recap, Jonathan and I decided one day (a year ago) that her special sippy cup needed to go, so we threw it away while she was napping. Literally, when she woke up from that nap she would not drink milk out of ANY other sippy cup. And never would again. LESSON LEARNED.

Fast forward to Friday.. She and I were eating lunch together and I started having a little heart-to-heart with her about milk. I asked her all kinds of questions like, "Tell me how you feel about milk. (I'm a psychologists daughter.) What is it that you don't like about milk? What if I just take your juice away completely? What if milk and water were the last two drinks on Earth?" To which she replied, "I'd just drink water, Mom." Dang it. I finally said, "Well, it's about time you give up all this juice. Starting tomorrow your options will be milk and water." That night I went to the store and bought that delicious, extremely expensive, pre-mixed chocolate milk. All day Saturday I bribed her to no end. I offered candy, new toys, new shoes, anything she wanted. Nothin'. Same story today. Until tonight, when Jonathan played a little game with her about drinking chocolate milk in exchange for a piece of chocolate. (Bribery WORKS). She took one sip... and she liked it!! Then she ran into the living room to show me that she liked it, and she took another drink! Jonathan and I burst in to celebration and told her to hurry and get ready to go to the store to buy some new toys! She took another drink before we left, and these pictures were taken before bed when she had another glass! I'm so so so happy right now. I think we'll ease her back in but definitely make it a priority that she keep drinking it. Wish us luck.

For all the Mormons...

...Or anyone who enjoys a good song, I suppose. ;) Amelia is always talking about this song "Leo the Lion" that they sing in nursery at church so last night at dinner I was asking her to teach it to me. By the way, if anyone knows it, could you actually teach it to me so I can sing it with her? She did a pretty good job but I don't think I got all the words. Anyway~ then I said, "What other songs do you sing in nursery? Do you know "I Am a Child of God?" and she just started singing it. This is with NO practice with me, just straight from memory from church!

My heart is melted. :)

Baby Food

I've been couponing lately. I know, I know, couponers are annoying. It's kind of like a fun game though. You cut out all the coupons, then check the grocery ad on Wenesday to see what super great deals you can get! For example, the other day I combined a few Safeway coupons I had to get a GREAT deal on baby food. Actually, let me just tell you first that I don't love baby food. I think it's super messy and expensive and kind of annoying. At the same time, it's really just feeding a baby anything that's messy, and you can't always grind up what you're having for them. Also, when you get this great of a deal on baby food you can't really pass it up.

All this baby food would have cost $25 but guess how much I got it for?

$4. That says FOUR DOLLARS! I was so pumped at my couponing skills. I think we'll just feed it to Addilyn until it's gone and then start on "real food." Go me. :)

Grapes

Please excuse the nudity in this video, it was right after bath. Her laugh towards the end of the video is the BEST. It's these small moments that makes all the annoying times disappear (for a little while).

Necklace

At this point in my life I hardly wear jewelry. I have a couple small silver necklaces from Jonathan that I wear, but otherwise it seems like any bigger necklaces, earrings, or bracelets are just an invitation for the kids to pull on them. The other day though, I decided to wear a long, chunky necklace that Melody made for me and I was just going to hope that Amelia didn't notice. About 5 minutes after I put it on I was in the bathroom getting ready and she came in a immediately said, "I love your pretty necklace, Mom." Dang, she noticed. I said, "Did you know that Grandma made this for me? And we're going over to her house right now so maybe she'll make one for you!" Sure enough, Melody was very willing to help Amelia make herself a necklace!

Unfortunately the only thing I didn't get a picture of was the finished product. Sorry. Thanks, Grandma Melody!
